Heart Full, Hands-On: When Two Schools Meet Through PBL

Our Grade 7 students recently visited The International Montessori School of Hong Kong – Middle School for an exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) exchange!

The highlights were observing the students working together to make bubble waffles and engaging with each other, talking, and forming new connections. I loved how some even recognized each other from outside of school activities.

Two schools embracing PBL—each shaped by its own philosophies, values, and ethos—yet students connected through the shared experience of project-based learning. Truly one of the best ways to bring teens together across schools. Heart full.

During the visit, the G7 had the opportunity to experience the student-run café, designed and operated by IMS middle schoolers.  It was incredibly impressive.

Students learned firsthand about the process of creating, managing, and sustaining a small business within a school environment — from branding and budgeting to customer service and teamwork.

The visit was a great example of how PBL connects real-world learning with creativity, collaboration, and purpose. A huge thank you to the IMS team for welcoming us and inspiring our learners with such an innovative and heart‑warming initiative!
