Recently, Grades 6 and 7 embarked on an exciting journey in Qingyuan, Guangdong, blending nature exploration, cultural immersion, and daring challenges. The aim of this expedition was to expand students’ horizons through outdoor activities, enrich their skills holistically, and strengthen the school community.
Cultural Immersion and Ecological Discovery
Their first destination was the T3 Organic Tea Garden in Yingde. At the tea culture experience center, students explored the classification of tea leaves and the philosophical underpinnings of tea art. Transitioning into tea farmers, they ventured into the garden to pluck delicate buds and experienced traditional tea-making techniques like processing, rolling, and drying. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, students also explored the mysterious karst underground world. They learned about the scientific principles behind the formation of stalactites and stalagmites and examined the cave’s water flow patterns. This exploration deepened their understanding of karst landscapes and highlighted the importance of preserving this valuable natural resource.
Encountering Mountains and Wilderness: Nurturing Growth Through Adventure
The trip included diverse outdoor activities such as group camping, countryside biking, and cave rappelling. During camping, students learned tent construction and collaborated closely to set up their shelters. The highlight was the cave rappelling challenge; faced with a 28-meter rock face, students supported each other, pushed their limits, and triumphed over their fears.
Fostering Gratitude and Strengthening Community Bonds
Throughout the adventure, students gained knowledge and deepened emotional ties through teamwork. At a challenge at Peng Family Castle, they collaborated to solve intricate puzzles and unlock a treasure chest. Each day concluded with students sharing heartfelt moments and expressing gratitude to their peers, coaches, and educators. This unforgettable experience fostered personal growth and cherished friendships.
